When it comes to weight loss, we often get lazy and forget that we should lose weight more for preserving our health than for vanity reasons. And feeding on our laziness is a group of fitness professionals who give us enough excuses to become lazier! These fitness professionals make politically correct statements that make you feel that it is easy to lose weight with virtually no hard work. Reality is however, very much different.

For example, most fitness experts will tell you that there is no need to go to the gym in order to burn fat. You can do the same thing in easier way-using tin cans. They will also tell you that you can lose fat only when you are present in a special, "fat burning zone". Those are plenty of excuses for you to sit idle and not make an effort to lose weight. However harsh it may sound and however much you hate me for saying this, but the truth is that you need to work very hard on your diet and nutrition, and even harder on your workout and exercise routine, if you are serious about losing weight, that is! Those who tell you that there is no need for diet and exercise are plainly lying to you! You can do it the hard way and lose weight in a short time, or you may want to go the 'easy' way and lose weight maybe in six or twelve months, or perhaps never!

Some fitness idiots will tell you that you can lose fat by doing slow, long cardio exercises. This is a very big lie! Long cardio exercises will do you more harm than good; they will cause energy deficit. Also, long cardio exercises are often boring and a time will come when you will no longer want to do them as diligently as before! Why not take the easier route instead - that of shorter, intense cardios? Yes, you need to do intense cardio exercises, but in my opinion, three intense, twenty-minute cardio sessions every week are far better than three or five cardio sessions of 45-minute each. If you are a busy professional, you will appreciate the fact that it is much easier to find time for shorter and intense cardios than the slow, longer ones!

I would also like to take this opportunity to shatter some of the weight loss myths. Some fitness experts would advise you to take to the stairs instead of the elevator, or use your legs instead of the car when going for shopping, or cut down on your dairy product intake. While all these things can help you burn fat to some degree, they are not going to be of much help if you rely only on them for burning your fat! Instead, rely on the more reliable means such as diet and exercise, which are proven to work time and again!

Along with that, you'd also need a strong, well-chalked out plan to succeed in your weight loss efforts. Any support that you get from your family or peers would be an added bonus!
